As a lot of you know, my drink of choice is usually a
caffeinated POP! I love Coca-Cola ! I also love Pepsi and I have been know to consume Dr. Pepper or even Royal Crown......I just love that caffine! I know, I know....NOT GOOD! Heather remembers (I'm sure) when I was single and living in Boise, there was a sale on Coke & Pepsi products. $1.99 a 12 pack! I stocked up and had literally 50 plus cases in my garage! At the time , it was Heaven!

Well, it's 20 years later and I'm 75 pounds heavier and recently there have been 3 people in our Ward that are our age or a little younger that have had "heart attacks". One has died, one has aged considerably and is now walking with a walker (which is an improvement from the wheel chair) and the other is at home now but I haven't heard much yet about his condition. I'm taking dinner in tonight to the family so will find out then.

Anyway, the whole thing has got me to thinking that I'm certainly not getting any younger and I need to take better care of my self as well as my hubby! I know it's NOT just the pop, but that certainly contributes to the poor eating/drinking choices. I've decided (like Jill) to give it up! It has been so hard to pass up the Gem Stop when I'm on my way back to work from lunch. I use to stop there frequently and get a 32 oz. refill for $.78. There was one lady named Tammy who would
always give it to me
FREE if it was a refill. Well, you know how I am when something is
FREE! I can't resist! I must have 8 of those cups that I use when I go in for a refill! I TOSSED THEM ALL!

It will be hard but I've got to make my drink of choice good
ole h20! I know it will benefit me in the long run! Once I get this mastered, I've got to change a lot of my eating habits. I'll work on not eating sweets ..... baby steps! Hopefully I can live to a ripe old age!

Good for you! You can do it! I know it's hard, but it will be so worth it in the end. I've slipped up once since I stopped drinking caffeine at the first of the year... It was Scott's fault for buying it and bringing it home to sit in our fridge and beckon me. Anyway, I recently decided no soda at all! No root beer, or sprite! The carbonation is so bad for us! I really like those vitamin waters, and crystal lite is great, but it needs to be in moderation. Baby steps!!! Good luck!
I feel your pain mom. I am proud of you, and certainly want you to live til you are very very old, so I think it is a great start to better health. I do remember all that pop in the garage, and it was heaven, til I looked in the mirror and realized I was a fatty :0) Baby steps! Love you.
Good for you mom! H2O has become my drink of choice, in fact it's my kid's drink of choice too. I used to drink a lot of pop also but I hardly ever touch it anymore. Yep, gotta love that water now! I know drinking a lot of water helped a lot when I lost weight after having Garrett (since I didn't get to nurse him). I also need to work on eating less sweets. It didn't help to have Easter last weekend and now our candy jar is full again. I started out eating a lot of it but as the week goes on I've slowed down on munching the candy and trying to leave it for the kids.
Good luck!! We love ya!
Oh, yay! Between the carbonation, the blood sugar spike, and the calories, you'll feel so much better!!! I'm bettin' you'll see some happy weight loss, too! ;-)
Good job! That stuff's bad for you - especially caffinated - but pop in general - we only drink pop once in a while.
