I DID IT....BUT DON'T THINK I'LL BE DOING IT AGAIN REAL SOON ............ LIKE NEVER !

Tony and I have been riding our bikes every evening for the past week! We got some little gadgets mounted on our bikes that clock the mileage! VERY COOL! We discovered that on a daily basis we had been riding between 11 and 12 miles each night. ( pat on back !!)
Well, I have been wanting to ride the Green Belt in Boise ALL THE WAY TO LUCKY PEAK DAM for a year now soooooooo................
on Saturday we decided to do it! We called up Stillman and Michelle to see if they wanted to go. Michele wasn't feeling well so they opted out. We knew Deedra was exhausted from canning so we didn't bother calling her. We called Colby and Krista and they were game! We got to their apartment and while they were getting things ready to go we picked blackberries in their backyard and ate them till our fingers and tongues were purple! OK, it doesn't really show it here but they were purple!
We took off riding from the kid's apartment and went on down to the Green Belt and got past the golf course where it starts heading toward the dam! 6 Miles to that point! Krista (being the smart gal that she is) said she would turn around and go back to Ann Morrison park and wait for us! (I should have been so smart instead of a "smarty pants") We (Colby pulling Nephi in a bike carrier, Tony and I) took off ........We had plenty of water and I was drinking like crazy. We stopped at a restroom by Harris Ranch and took a potty break.

We finally reached the Diversion Dam. That is my red forhead .....just so you know I DID MAKE IT! LOL

At this point I thought this was the end of the destination but Noooooo! Colby says,"it's just a little farther!" OK, I'm game. Back on the bikes and we're off again! We rode to the park at the dam and I had a lady take a picture of us so I could prove we made it! Colby's done it a few times but it was a 1st for Tony and I! (By the way, that's not sweat on the front of my shirt....I had Tony douse me with water. I was HOT!)

To this point we had gone about 13 miles. I thought the trip back was going to be a cinch! Downhill ya know! ........... NOT !
There were some spots that were definitely UP! I was getting tired. By the time we got to Krista at the Library by Ann Morrison Park I was feeling exhausted! Mind you, I have been drinking water all the way! The four of us got on our bikes and headed back to the apartment! Just out of the park there is a hill with quite a ascent and at that point I had no energy to peddle! I had to get off and walk my bike to the top. Got back on and rode the rest of the way to the apartment. 26 1/3 MILES TOTAL !!! We were pretty pumped about the long trip!
While Tony was loading our bikes on the bike rack, I started feeling nauseous! I told him I had to lay down in the truck. Krista came out with more water and told me to come in the house. I was starting to feel really crappy and just wanted to go home to bed! Tony gets in and takes one look at me and says "Your going in the apartment to lay down" .... He comes over to my door to help me out and I start puking out the window! My body was getting numb and tingly! Even my tongue was doing it! My hands and feet were starting to bend funny and look deformed. Tony had to help me walk to the apartment. They laid me down on the couch and tried to give me Gator aide. I'd sip a bit and then get sick again. I was very hot! Tony was rubbing my arms and legs and feet. Krista (bless her heart) was putting cold washrags on my arms, forehead and legs. It felt really good but then I got the chills and was freezing. She put a blanket on me! Tony called the hospital and talked to Traci. She said we were doing all the right things (It was dehydration) but if Tony would come to the hospital she would give him something to help me keep the Gator aide down. I was still icy cold so Krista put another blanket on me. I ended up with three blankets and was still shivering!
Tony came back with a little pill that he put on my tongue to dissolve. It took a little while before I dared drink anything but I started sipping Gator aide again and before long I was able to get two glasses down. Once I got the electrolytes back in my system and was able to keep them down I started feeling better. It took most of the evening. Krista went to "The Golden Star" and got some Chinese food. By 7PM I was able to get down some fried rice and even a little ice cream. We finally left about 9:30 to come home. I took a shower and crawled into bed and passed out quick! It was an experience!
I was proud of myself for doing it!
Mad at myself for getting dehydrated.
Thankful for Tony and Colby and Krista for taking good care of me.
Thankful for Traci for giving me the pill (that saved me and helped me keep the liquids down)
And glad I lived to tell about it! LOL
I think I'll stick to shorter trips from here on out!

Yep, you're right. I was tired from canning and not to mention sick as well. I stayed home all day Sat and tried to take it easy. In fact, I stayed home from church today as well just to get some extra rest.

I'm sure glad you're okay. Thank goodness you have a daughter who's a nurse who can get you stuff like that. And that you had so much help. I have a feeling I probably would have done the same thing...actually I probably wouldn't have made it that far, lol. So good for you for "going the distance", hehe.

wow! I'm amazed at the distances you both are doing. I'm not for the long distance thing, I get tired too easily. I'm sorry that that happened to you, but I'm glad that you got back on your feet.

I am totally impressed! You should be giving yourself a pat on the back for sure. Keep on going! Your body probably was in a bit of shock, but if you keep going a little at a time, then that ride won't seem so bad after awhile! You guys rock! And yay for Nephi making all that way too! I realize he was just catchin' a ride, but still...
