OBSERVATIONS ON GROWING OLD ...

MAN! I've been trying to get myself in shape and start looking better and today it hit me ....

I'M GONNA BE 59 YEARS OLD THIS SEPTEMBER!
Crap! I'm practically over the hill ! No wonder it's hard to take this accumulated fat off!
I'M NEARLY 60 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whaaaaaaa !

OK, So if I've got to get old (which is inevitable) I might as well laugh about it .....
So here goes ....................

~ Your kids are becoming you ... and you don't like them ... but your grandchildren are perfect!

~ Going out is good. Coming home is better!

~When people say you look "Great ... they add "for your age!"

~When you needed the discount you paid full price. Now you get discounts on everything ... movies, hotels, flights, but you're too tired to use them.

~You forget names ... but it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you !!!

~The 5 pounds you wanted to lose is now 15 and you have a better chance of losing your keys than the 15 pounds!

~You realize you're never going to be really good at anything ... especially golf.

~Your spouse is counting on you to remember things you don't remember.

~The things you use to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really care that you don't care to do them anymore!

~Your spouse sleeps better on a longe chair with the TV blaring than he does in bed. It's called his "pre-sleep".

~Remember when your mother said "Wear clean underware in case you GET in an accident"? Now you bring clean underwear in case you HAVE an accident!

~You used to say, "I hope my kids GET married ... Now, I hope they STAY married!"

~You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch ...

~When GOOGLE, ipod, email, modem ... were unheard of, and a mouse was something that made you climb on a table.

~You used to use more 4 letter words ... "what?" ... "when?"

~Now that you can afford expensive jewelry, it's not safe to wear it anywhere.

~You read 100 pages into a book before you realize you've read it.

~Notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!!!

~What use to be freckles are now liver spots!

~Everybody whispers!

~You have 3 sizes of clothes in your closet ... 2 of which you will never wear.

~ But old is good in some things: old songs and old movies and best of all ... Old Friends!

GOTTA LOVE THE DOLLAR THEATERS !!!

Traci and the kids came over Friday night because Jason went to Sacramento to pick up a horse trailer. She took me & the kiddies to the Mongolian BBQ for dinner. (Thanks Traci. it was delicious) and then Caden wanted to see Planet 51 and it was at the $1 theater so ......who can resist that!
It was actually $4 because we went to The Boise Overland Theater but you get your ticket, a popcorn and a drink! Sure beats the $20 dollars (or more) ya spend for the normal theater for all that! Isabel was so cute! She had press on nails and she only had 8 to start with because she sucks on her 2 fingers and she'd lost one already.

Then a little later she had 6 cuz she lost another one somewhere.

Then on Saturday, I assume she had 3 more cuz I found 3 in the carpet after she was gone. lol

Little girls are so cute!

When we got to the theater, we took some pictures cuz we were the only ones there. We were beginning to think we would have the theater to ourselves!

So we took some more shots! ......................................

And I got up and got one of the whole gang ........................

And then all of a sudden they started coming in and soon the place was FULL! It was a cute show and we all got a kick out of it! Fun evening!

LUNCH WITH CLAIRE ....

I had to go into Boise this past Saturday to run some errands so I called Mary Grant (Claires other Gramma) to see if I could take Claire and Mostyn to lunch. I was hoping Mostyn was there too but he was with his dad.
Claire and I had a fun time. We went to Flynn's Saddle Shop 1st to check out some shoes I wanted to look at. We had fun looking at the jewelry too.
She wanted I-Hop but as we passed a Carl's Jr, she quickly changed her mind. (a woman's prerogative .... lol ) So we made a U-turn and had a nice meal of chicken strips, fries and a drink. Claire had a good time in the play area and afterwards we went to Wal-Mart to find some candles and buttermilk for Deedra's cake.
It was fun. I'll have to try and get into Boise more often and see the kids.

A BUSY MONTH FOR BIRTHDAYS .......

But then ... which month isn't in this family? lol
We started out the New Year with a brand new Birthday! On January 4th, out newest grandchild .... numero 24 .... was born!
TRISTAN LaVERN STEWART
I just wish I had been able to be there when he made his "Grand Debue"
He was born on the day the Bronco's won the Fiesta Bowl .... (AGAIN) so mom was in "True Bronco" form ... and attire, when he entered the world!

Here he is ! He is so beautiful! It's amazing how much you can love someone you've never even met!

Our next Birthday was for our son Phillip. I called and e-mailed him and he got a special email from his dad ..... all the way from Iraq! It would be wonderful to actually be able to celebrate a birthday with him but it's not in the cards at this time. We love Phillip and want him to know how much we miss being able to spend time with him but it's hard to let him know it.

Our 3rd Birthday for the month was Michelle! We met at Stillman and Michelle's on Sunday the 1oth to celebrate with her. She is so photogenic. Here she is with the boys and Jayden was pretty fascinated with the candles on the cakes.

Michelle requested cheesecake and what Michelle wants ....... Stillman makes sure Michelle gets!

Opening her gifts! It was a Great Party!

Our 4th Birthday was for Nikki who turned 6! She wanted a "Princess" cake. There is a glass slipper on the cake and she decorated it herself.

It's always so much fun for the little ones to open their gifts and they always have a lot of help from their cousins. Amazingly, I got a picture of Nikki opening it on her own. Her daddy was on the web cam watching her so her mommy made sure she was visible!

And I couldn't resist the picture of Jack in the middle of the wrapping paper! He was in his glory and so darn cute!!

Our last party for the month was last night for Deedra. She just turned 27 (as the cake tells it all) ..............

We had a great turn out! A lot of the Butterfields and the Norton's were there to help her celebrate. We started by opening gifts .....

Tony and I gave her the "Apple if her eye" .....haha as well as a necklace and a journal.

Gaya and Deedra with a wonderful "sentiment" that the Butterfields gave her!

I LOVE IT !!!!

Gramma and Grandpa gave her a book.

Happy reading Deed! It looks like a good one. Gramma always picks out some good reads!

And Nikki made her mother a beautiful flower! What a sweetheart!

We have a little reprieve in February (only two) ... lol

It will give us time to get geared up for another bunch in March!

We Love it!!

Remember last October when I was in Relief Society and they asked if anyone had
"Good News"

I said I had good news ...... which was Tony got a job !!!

But I also had "Bad News" ...... It was in Iraq !!!

A sister asked me when he got to come home. I said the contract was for a year but he would be home in Feb/March for a visit........ and then I said ......(famous last words)


"Then I'll be on him like a Rat on a Cheeto"


Well, I had to go on visits last night with the Stake Relief Society and when I arrived at the church, Sister Joy Boekweg was sitting in the lobby waiting for her son who is a Scout. I greeted her and she jumped up and said "I have something for you...... come with me to my car". I hesitated because I was already a bit late but she insisted. I followed her to her car and she opened the trunk and pulls out a big gift bag. All I saw was a chip bag of sorts so I said

"Yay, food, I love food"

She says, " Lets go into the church and you can open it"

So I did and I couldn't help but laugh .......


It was a RAT and a bag of Cheeto's !!!


BEST GIFT EVER !!! LOL

The kids will be leaving the hospital in a couple of hours. I will leave the blogging of this little adorable man to his parents now. ......

WHAT A GREAT DAY! Chris kept me informed all day and just before I left work he called to tell me Tristan was here for the GAME!
He is so beautiful! A ton of black hair, 7 pounds 2 ounces (or 3, I've seen both) and 20 inches long!
Chris says he had Princess's nose and mouth and an older lady at the hospital said his mouth was beautiful !!

Mommy did a great job! She looks wonderful and she says they are so amazed at the miracle of it all! She said he is perfect! AND SHE'S SO RIGHT!

HE IS!

MY goodness, look at that head of hair! Chris says it's all over his body too!

It might be but obviously it's not as dark as what's on his little head!

Awhhhhhh, resting comfortably with mommy!

AND A BRONCO WIN TOO ! WHAT A GREAT DAY!

Tristan is here! Proud daddy called and said he was born at 4:54 (their time) and he is beautiful !! Daddy says he has his Mommy's lips and nose!
He's has a ton of hair and it's all over his body (just like his daddy)
They are soooooo happy!

NEWS FLASH !!!!

Chris just called and Princess went from a 5 to a 10 in 2 hours! The Dr. says Tristan will be here in an hour!
Chris says
"Just in time for the GAME!"

BREAKING NEWS FLASH......FIESTA BOWL BABY IS ON HIS WAY !!!!

Chris called me this morning at 7:30 to let me know that he and Princess were at the hospital. Princess was in the room getting prepped and they hadn't let Chris go back yet. (What kinda backward hospital is that??) Anyways, he said he'd keep me posted.

An hour later he calls me to say he was with Princess! She didn't have to be induced because
SHE WAS ALREADY IN LABOR !!
Chris said she woke up at 2AM and said her hips hurt and she couldn't sleep. Well, all I can say is this !!
Little Tristan is a "TRUE BRONCO" He was coming on "Fiesta Bowl Game Day"
ONE WAY OR THE OTHER AND HE CHOSE TO DO IT ON HIS OWN TERMS!
