4th of July 2012

Tony and I had a relaxing 4th of July! I got up at 8AM to see the Scouts placing the  flag in our yard. (actually it was the scouts mother & sister ...lol )
They got Bob and Joyce across the street as well. It was beautiful outside. A slight breeze and very comfortable so I decided to go walking. I went on a nice walk to Lion's park and around the park several times. I met 2 ladies from a neighborhood close to us and walked with them for one time around. We had a very nice visit.  After I got home (an hour later) Tony and I sat out under the gazebo and worked on our talks for Sacrament meeting this coming Sunday. YEP, they caught us again!!!
We took in a movie around 1PM.
We went to the NEW AND IMPROVED Spider-Man!  It was AWESOME!! I liked it better than the 1st one! We decided to watch the 1st one when we got home to compare. We didn't get it done because we had been invited to a BBQ at the Bostrom's home at 6PM. (But, what I saw ..... I still like the new one better)
We picked up Bob and Joyce and then went and got Mom and Dad Norton and drove to the Bostrom's home!
They had just redone their patio to make it larger (they are real party people and very generous to invite people to swim and BBQ ALL THE TIME) I'm serious! They have parties like no other!
We were the only people there! We wondered if we were early but they assured us we were on time and they didn't know if anyone else would show up!
It was very pleasant weather and good company and good food. Lamont barbequed hotdogs and we had chips and salsa, watermelon, fresh cherries and rhubarb crisp with homemade ice cream.
We ate and visited and then .....
The Francis family showed up!
They brought some salad and BBQ'ed chicken. I was done but Tony had some chicken. It looked good but I decided I'd been bad enough for the day! We left around 9PM to head out to Melba to watch fireworks with some of the kids!
BUT, when we got to Melba and conveniently right in front of the field where the fireworks are shot off ....my car overheated and we had to stop!!  A young man came over and gave us some bottles of water and we also had some in the trunk.  Then and older gentleman came and it turned out he was Brother Zeyer and he knew Tony and Art.  The young man was LDS as well and after we sat there for a good half hour to 45 minutes, while the engine cooled the young man said we could pull our car back a bit and watch the fireworks from where we were. There were hundreds of people and cars all along the road and we feared if we stayed too long we may have the same problem on the way home in stop and go traffic!
The fireworks started and we were soooooo close we could feel the heat from them!
I got a lot of good pictures!
But we decided we needed to get while the gettin was good so we never did make it to the church where the kids were BUT we had an interesting adventure and saw the show up close and personal. AND, we made it home OK! I walked to work this morning so Tony can work on my car and make sure things don't happen again! We hope you all had a wonderful 4th!
