OUR NEIGHBORHOOD BLOCK PARTY......SUCCESS!!

Saturday was soooooo busy!!  It started off with a Multi Stake Leadership Training meeting at 9AM till noon for me! AND Tony went to Meridian with Art to help Colby and Krista move into their new home. I hurried out to the garden at 7:30 to cut some chard for the Kalua Pork and then got it ready to go into the oven before I took off for the meetings. After getting home about 12:30, I made the Sweet Potato Souffle and some Baked Beans. Tony got home and we set up tables and chairs etc. I made some Baked  Zucchini Sticks!  At 4PM  our friends started arriving. This is the Cooks! We had Hawaiian music playing and Gwen was showing me her Hula moves!

Art introducing himself to some of the neighbors!

Some of the neighbors just visiting as others arrived.

Bob heading to the tables with his plate of food. Looks like everyone else beat him to the food table!  lol

The food was great! Everyone brought a salad or vegetable dish or a dessert. We provided the meat and souffle and a couple of other dishes because I'm always paranoid about not having enough of something!! lol

This is Holly and her mother Brenda (with back to us) Her mother just moved in next door to us into the Suggs home. Chris Sugg is next to Holly in the pink shirt.

Ed Bland is the gentleman closest to the camera. They use to live in the home the Jarretts now live in and we were friends with them so we invited them to come. They  had a great time visiting with their old neighbors.

Everyone enjoyed the food! It was delicious if I do say so myself! Fun to taste all the different things people bring!

We had a total of 23.

The weather was PERFECT ! We couldn't have asked for a better day!!

It was GREAT this year and people got up and moved around and associated with different people and got to know one another better!

Tony and I told them we would make a neighborhood directory if we could get everyone to write down their names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses. They all thought it was a good idea.

There was not a shortage of conversation .

The funniest thing that happened was SKIP HOWARD!!  Several neighbors asked if she was coming. We told them that she said she was going to come when we handed out the invites but she still hadn't showed so I thought something must have come up. At 6PM (after everyone was done eating and some had left, she showed up)  She said she had lost her invite and thought it was at 6PM. She was so embarrassed but such a good sport. All that were left welcomed her and she ate and enjoyed visiting with us and we enjoyed her vegetable dip with crackers while she ate.

She is a cute little lady and she even wore her Lei because our party is always a Luau style!

Towards the early evening, the flies and hornets got kinda pesky and so Tony was working them over! Darn bugs!!

After the majority of the neighbors left, our game night neighbors stayed and we gathered under the gazebo to play "MEXICAN TRAIN". Chris and Dale Sugg had an Aunt and Uncle who were visiting so they played with us! Sean and Suzzette Jarrett and Chris and Dale Sugg are our neighbors who we get together with on a monthly basis and play games. We take turns playing at each others homes. It's so nice to associate with fun good people!  We usually go till 10 or 10:30 PM, but the Aunt (Judy was her name) said she was tired at 9PM so we quit. I was kinda glad because we had to get up early Sunday morning for Ward Council and I knew it was going to be a FULL day Sunday too. And it was!
All in All, the Block Party was a great success!~
