Mom gave us a BIG SCARE at 4:50 this morning. She wears the alarm around her neck (thank goodness) and evidently, she got up to use the restroom. She fell at the foot of her bed and couldn't get up. She pressed her alarm. If she presses it once, it just sets of a ding dong. Kinda like a doorbell, HOWEVER, she held it and then it sets off an alarm like an ambulance siren!
AND IT WAS LOUD!!
Both Tony and I jumped out of bed and went to her room. As we were helping her up, Will came down. He and Tony turned off the alarm while I sat with her in her room for a bit. She said she had wet her pants, so we got her a clean pair and took off her pajama's as well. (while the boys were out of the room) she is so embarrassed and keeps apologizing. I tell her it's no problem but of course she doesn't hear me. After I got her cleaned up, she wanted to sit in her chair for a bit. She was very disoriented and I had to guide her walker to the living room. I decided to sleep in the chair beside her so Tony and Will went back to bed. I had a hard time settling down and when I finally did, I could hear her getting up again so I followed her to the bathroom. After she finished, she wanted to lay down in her bed. It was after 8am by then so I just dressed and stayed up. I got the raisins soaking for her oatmeal and boiled some water. Once she was up (around 10) I was ready to fix her breakfast.
She had eaten her cereal and almost done with her toast but she looked like she was mixed up. She has another bruise (although smaller) on the left side of her head now. Tony ate and left to go to Seaside to get me a sweater like his. He also picked up a couple of things I needed, like disinfecting wipes and a gift for the Jarrett's. They watch our house while we are gone and pick up our mail. They are good people. I got Mom to her chair and she got out her knitting.
It was raining pretty good and the wind was really blowing hard. Tony was gone till around 3 or so. I crocheted till Mom was ready to take a nap so I got her to her room again. Tony and I put a Costco pizza in the oven but I made her a vegetable dish because she is backed up. I feel so bad for her. She wanted to watch baseball so ....her wish is our command. It was a rerun of some game but she doesn't now that so she was a happy camper.
This evening, she got up and moved to a different recliner so she could watch her SKYLIGHT. I warmed her up a piece of cornbread so she could eat a little something before bed!
Then I sat by her and tried to tell her who people were that she didn't recognize. I tried to tell her in her ear but finally had to resort to the paper and black marker. I was surprised when I had to tell her who Uncle Edgar was (her younger brother) and her niece JoAnn. She was the daughter of her brother George. She died this year. She finally decided she'd had enough and went back to her regular chair to knit. I sure hope she has a better night. I realize just how much Rick and Wendy do for her. They really have their hands full. It's hard to say but I seriously wonder how long the Lord will keep her here. Her quality of life is poor. Maybe we are supposed to learn to serve her. I'm trying my best.
I did get three paper purses done throughout the day. Got a lot more cut out so will try to get more done tomorrow.
Charcie sent me this picture tonight and told me that Tony and I should try and go out to see the Peter Ire dale ship wreck. She said in all the time she has lived in Astoria, she has never seen it so uncovered. It's beautiful! We are going to try and go Thursday. It's supposed to be the driest day this week.
