Veterans Day with Dave & Janet

Tony and I flew down to Oakland California, Thursday the 10th where my brother Dave and his wife Janet picked us up. We then drove to Winsor California which is about 80 miles north ...up the coast. Winsor is in the Napa Valley! Talk about "Wine Country"!
 AND TALK ABOUT BUSY FREEWAYS!!
I was so glad Dave was driving!!  He has it down! It took us a couple of hours to get to the resort but it was just fun being with the two of them and having a good visit!
Yes, Dave can multi task ...drive and visit at the same time! lol
After arriving at the resort, we checked into our unit and got settled and then we went to a restaurant called "CHARLIES" which was on the property. We had dinner and when we didn't order WINE, they were totally shocked!!
"You're in wine country and you don't want wine???"  lol
On Friday morning, there was a meeting for the "Owners" and a free breakfast. Tony signed us up so he could get the gift card!! (Grrrrrr)  BUT as it just so happened, when we went, they had overbooked and there was not a representative to help us so we got to eat, got the gift card and were on the road in 30 minutes! It was PERFECT!!~  lol
Dave drove us to the coast to Bodega Bay! We saw hundreds of Wine vineyards on the way and they were beautiful! The colors were changing and the leaves were still on. So so pretty!
We stopped at an open market to get some snacks~

This little pumpkin was on display!  It weighed 1109 pounds!!  Man, we could make a ton of pies with that for Thanksgiving!! lol

There were several little towns on the way to Bodega Bay. We stopped at  one and ate lunch. Both Tony and I had Clam Chowder. It wasn't near as good as Dooger's! They had too many spices in it. BUT it was tasty and we licked the bowl clean. Dave had some fish taco's that looked mighty delicious and Janet had fish and chips that looked dang good too!

We also stopped at a store in Bodega where we saw the famous Alfred Hitchcock.....  lol
 Well kinda!
I guess the little town of Bodega is where "THE BIRDS" was filmed for the most part. It was fun to go in the store and see all the memorabilia from the film.

When we got to the bay, there was a ton of succulent  ground cover!  I loved it!!

There were some really big waves coming in which aren't near as impressive in a picture!!

But believe me, they were!!~

It is just so fun and relaxing to sit and watch the ocean!!

And then the fog started to roll in .....

And so we headed to head back to the condo to chill.  We watched movies and played games and ate way to much crap!!  lol

The following day (Saturday) we decided to take Highway 1 down the coast. Dave had never been on it and so we saw country he had never seen! It was awesome! We stopped in a little community to eat lunch. HOWEVER, it was a very winding road!  We stopped in a small town on an inlet of the ocean and the three of them ate and I just drank a 7UP.
I continued feeling nauseous so we stopped in the town of San Reyes and I bought some Dramamine.  We also went into a little store that made cheese and breads. Janet bought a couple of baguettes and a loaf of sour dough and two kinds of cheeses. I was feeling a bit better when we hit the road again so I had a piece of the baguette.  (BIG MISTAKE!~)

I kept getting greener as the miles ticked by!
We stopped several times but as soon as I got back in the car, that old stomach started churning again! Dave kept assuring me that we didn't have much further to go. Finally I said "Dave pull over" ..... Janet could see I was on the verge and said "Dave pull over" .... Dave said "I'm looking for a spot!" But it was too late! I cupped my hands over my mouth and tried my best to keep it down but just couldn't!
By the time he stopped (and it was just seconds from when I asked him to) I had what little I'd eaten all over the front of me, all over my pants, and I even managed to get Janet and Tony a little bit! They got me out of the car and I continued to lose it for the whole world to see! And believe me, everyone coming off that road watched as I puked my guts out!
It was so humiliating! I had no change of clothes, we didn't have any wet wipes or anything to clean up the car with except two small towels that Dave had in his trunk. Tony wiped me off as best as he could and Dave cleaned the seat and the car window as best as he could and we got on the freeway and headed back to Winsor as fast as we could. Luckily the weather was beautiful so Dave had his window down as well as the window in the roof of his car! They definitely needed a fresh air breeze because I smelled awful! I felt so sorry for them all! As soon as we got back. I showered and washed my clothes and the towels. We went to the store and got some cleaning supplies to clean the car and then I was feeling so chipper..... we went out to eat!  lol
It was quite the day!

Sunday, we decided to just stay at the condo and relax. NO DRIVING!!  We got several movies from the front desk and watched them as well as played "MEXICAN TRAIN" between movies!  Dave barbequed Tri Tip and baked potatoes for us!

It was another lovely day so we ate out on the patio!

The MASTER CHEF was in his element! He waited on us and we let him! lol

It was so delicious! I'd have to say it was the best meal we had the entire trip!
AND I'M SERIOUS!!!

Dave had brought fresh tomatoes with him and we also ate some of the loaf of bread we bought in San Reyes. Along with Tri Tip, baked potato, and corn.....it was Mmmmm, Mmmmm GOOD!!~

And we all enjoyed it!

We wore Dave out though! This is him after dinner!  lol

But once he had a five, we all enjoyed playing games again and just laughing and having a
GREAT TIME TOGETHER!
We got up early (6:30) on Monday morning and Dave drove us back to Oakland! Traffic was HORRIFIC!!!~  So glad Dave was driving. He did great and we had a blast with these two characters! It was so much fun spending some time with them!
Love them both so much!
