Tony and I slept in till 8:30 so the lawn could dry out. We should have stayed in bed till 10! lol It was still wet when we got out there around 9, after breakfast!! Not bad but he had to clean the underside of the mower because wet grass sticks to it! BAD!~ He headed to Joyce's and I started in our front yard. Once I finished mowing, I went around the flower beds and picked weeds before heading to do the back yard. I wore my ear buds and listened to music while I was mowing just in case Carol Ross called. She was hoping to get back to her doctor today and I told her I'd drive her. I took a break after I'd been outside for a couple of hours and she said she still hadn't heard back from her doctor. So I headed back out to work on the garden and to pull weed in the backyard.
DANG!! Another zucchini got away from me. They grow so darn fast! Actually the cucumbers are a bit on the big side too. I put a message on the ward Face Book page to see if anyone wanted them. LOL So far, no takers!!
I got several tomatoes today and only one Roma. They all looked good. Small but they will be fine. I think I might makes some chili. It's hotter than blazes out there but It's supposed to start cooling off soon. 80* sounds cool enough for chili! lol Maybe I'll freeze them so they will be ready for chili in October!
Tony sprayed weeds after he finished Lynn's yard. I picked a lot of them but there were some button weeds along the fence that I couldn't get out. They get some pretty lengthy roots on them!
He's a hard worker. Sure appreciate him.
I started pulling some of the marigolds today too. I have so many and I don't want them drying out and dropping seeds all over the garden again. I still drop some seeds when I pull them out so will be a lot more diligent next summer when they start popping up. I'm gonna pull a lot more of them at that time.
I've been so disappointed in the bulbs I bought this year. The Dahlias and the Begonias have not bloomed like they have in the past.
It must have been a bad batch or something because I've never had this problem in the past. Oh well, like I said earlier, I'm almost ready for Fall so I can pull all the dead stuff and get ready for winter. LOL
AS A RULE, MAN'S A FOOL.
WHEN IT'S HOT, HE WANTS IT COOL.
WHEN IT'S COOL, HE WANTS IT HOT!
HE ALWAYS WANTS, WHAT IT'S NOT!!
When I lived in Alabama, a lady I worked with at KRESS DEPT. Store taught me that. I've always remembered it. It's so true! lol
Well, Tony and I are gonna chill for a bit! Lawn day is a lot of work and we are tired.
