GOOD AND THEN BACK TO BAD!~

Well, last night after Mom read Wendy's letter, she softened a little. She did say she would go with Tony and me to Portland to see the home care house. We were thrilled.

Ben came down and brought her a gift and a Christmas card, from the neighbors. He stayed and visited with her. She told him that she was going to the house in Portland. Ben was so sweet and told her they would miss her but they will come visit and it is the best thing. She seemed content and happy. After Ben left, she said to me, "Let's go pack some things. But, I won't need much! I don't plan on being their very long!"  I told her that, we are just going for the day to check it out and we will move her next Saturday.

She got up at 7:30 and was dressed and ready. I made her her breakfast and she ate. I got a couple of nice zip up sweaters for her to wear. I gave her a choice and she said they weren't warm enough. We looked in the hall closet and found a nice warm coat. Got it on her and we walked her up to Will's car and got her loaded. We got gas at Costco and headed out. It was a 2 hour drive. She slept most of the way.

We got to the home and it is very nice!! Beautiful on the outside and immaculate on the inside. Alexandra, the owner and main care taker was so sweet and totally awesome. She is Romanian. I thought she was Hispanic from her accent on the phone but not so. She is a little plumb and blonde. She said she loves to bake and she cooks for the ladies. She has been doing this since 2009 and she has two care homes as well as her own home which is 5 minutes away.
We visited in the dining area (which I neglected to get a picture of) and after a bit, she said she would show Mom her room.

It is PERFECT!!  It has everything she needs! A hospital bed, a dresser and her own TV!

She has a beautiful recliner (with a remote) with two tables. There is her closet right behind the door to the room!

Then directly across from her room is her
OWN BATHROOM!!
It has a walk in shower with a chair!  The sink is to the right. You can see just the edge of it.

On the other side is the sink, commode and her cupboard above the toilet for her personal things.  Tony and I gave it a two thumbs up!  Alexandra is the best and she has workers so it is a 24/7 care. I wrote mom a not and I said, "This is lovely Mom, do you think you'd be happy here?"  Wrong question for sure!!  She said, "NO, I WANT TO STAY IN MY OWN APARTMENT! I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF!"
I wrote, "But Mom, you can't take care of yourself!"
I told Alexandra that as far as we were concerned, it was a go and we would be consulting with our siblings. We asked her to hold it and we will have her back next Saturday. I helped her get her coat on and we got her back to the car. As we were taking off, she said, "I know you're disappointed in me, but I am not living there." I gave her a sandwich and a couple of cookies to eat and off for Astoria we went.

She fell asleep again for a while!

But I felt like she was giving me the stink eye when she woke up!!  LOL  I'm certainly not her favorite child right now!  When we got her back into the house When we got home, Charcie, Tony and I got her in the house and she yelled at me about the coat I'd put on her. She said it wasn't hers. I hung it in the hall closet and she yelled at me again and said "Don't put it in there, I DON'T WANT IT!".  Then she yelled at me again and said 'WHERE DID YOU PUT ALL THE THINGS THAT BELONG ON MY CART?" I quietly put them on her cart as they were on the table right next to her chair she was sitting in. Charcie came down to see how things went. She couldn't believe how she was acting. We made up a list of things she CANNOT do by herself....mainly everything!! Charcie went upstairs and put it together and then called her parents and they had some more input. I fixed Mom and us some soup. While we were eating, she told Tony that we can go home tomorrow! She can take care of herself! Then she told me she needed prune juice, she's constipated. lol  I wanted to say, "Can't you get it??  lol  Charcie came down a little later and gave me the typed up letter. I told her I will do it tomorrow.  I am so exhausted and tired of trying to make her see reason.  Till tomorrow!
