We got to Astoria and it was cool and raining pretty steady!! We had a little time before we could check into our motel so we went to Costco and walked around. I bought some Crystal light packages and as we're checking out, Tony says, "Does that guy look like Will"? I'm looking at the food court and couldn't see anyone that looked like Will until I look at the guy right in front of me.....It was Will. lol He hugged me and we walked out together. Still raining. We said our goodbyes and we went to check in. Once we got our bags unloaded, we drove up to the church for the evening get together and dinner.
Wendy, Rick and some grandkids were in the kitchen. There were Lasagna's in the oven. Tony and I asked if we could help so she put us to work cutting up the Sour Dough Bread and wrapping it in foil. We put it in the oven to warm when the Lasagna was done.
The cultural hall was set up beautifully! Mom's Christmas Cactus and their wedding picture was on a table as we entered, along with a flip photo book that was her's.
They had boxes of covered hanger's that mom had made for this very purpose. We were all invited to take a box and some for our kids.
So, I did!
There were several tables at the back of the cultural hall. They held a lot of things that belonged to mom and dad.
Rick encouraged everyone to go through the things and to take what they wanted or it was going to be taken to the goodwill.
There was a plethora of items.
Mom was an avid quilter, crocheter and knitter. There were so many things to go through. Then there were a bunch of photo albums. Mom even kept letters from her grandkids when they were small. I got some my kids had written and took them along with pictures of them and their families. I'll mail them to the kids when I get things separated and organized.
The tables were decorated so beautifully with greenery, flowers and pictures of mom and dad and family. All in black and white. So cool!
When everyone arrived, we ate and visited and planned to meet on Saturday at 10 am for the Memorial service. We left with our car full of things from Mom and went to the motel to rest.
