Tony and I were doubly blessed this weekend. We worked our shift at the temple and at 10 am were able to officiate the session for our grandson, Garrett Butterfield as he received his endowment . It was wonderful to be a part of his growth!
Afterwards, we went out back and got pictures. His parents are so thrilled with his decision to follow our Savior and to enter the temple. Garrett was awesome and happy!
It was a great family attendance as we all supported Garrett!
FAMILY
FRIENDS AND FAMILY!
His Great Gramma, Lynn and his Butterfield grandparents and his Norton grandparents.
His Bishop and his wife even drove over from Kennewick to support Garrett! It was wonderful. We ALL went to Lynn's to have pizza after the temple session.
After eating, Garrett opened his mission call! It was so exciting!
His parents were all smiles!
As was he!!
Garrett is going to be serving a "SERVICE MISSION" in Kennewick. We are so grateful for his service as he will be able to live at home and serve in the temple along with other service projects. He will be GREAT! We couldn't be prouder!
We then celebrated his birthday. (which is actually this Monday the 29th) Me and Gaya, his gramma's
And Lynn, his Great Gramma!
After lunch and the birthday party, friends and some relatives left and Garrett got to go to the BSU game with his Uncle Stillman and his cousins. We stayed at Lynn's and watched it on TV. It was a great game and we won, which makes it all the better.
Sunday morning, we went to Nate & Melissa's ward for little Evelyn Jaye Sweeten's baby blessing. It was their Ward Conference and the speakers were awesome. Joe gave a wonderful blessing and it was a lovely meeting. We were invited to go up to Nate & Melissa's new home for lunch. So we didn't go to our own ward.
EVERYONE was taking turns holding little Evie so Melissa gave me a tour of their home. It is absolutely gorgeous! They have a beautiful patio just off the kitchen and a lot were eating outside. A lot at the kitchen table and some visiting in the living room. When we finished the tour, I went down and little Alice was holding the baby. Ellie asked if I'd like to hold Evie. "OF COURSE"!! Then little Alice asked me if I'd put sanitizer on my hands yet!! It was so cute. I hurriedly did so and then she gave her up!
And Alice even took a picture of me holding Evie. Tony took the 1st one. Evelyn is a beautiful baby girl. We were there for a couple of hours and we finally started for home around 2PM. I got a call from Michelle just as we were pulling out of the neighborhood. She said "come back, Ellie wants a 5 generation picture".
So we turned around and we got it. I feel so blessed that I was included. I love these kids and am so grateful for their acceptance of me. We then drove home and rested a bit and Tony had a meeting at 4 in the afternoon. I worked on my blog and caught up on the sad news of the day. The passing of our dear prophet last night.
He was such a great man and brought me and others so much happiness. I had been reading earlier in the evening last night about his health failing and he'd lost his eye sight. I was so surprised when we got up this morning to find out he'd passed. He left us with so much love, faith, and 200 temples announced or completed while he was prophet. He is now with his beloved 1st wife, Dantzel. He will be greatly missed but we know we will see him again. Then while we were at Melissa's we heard about the man in Michigan who drove his car into an LDS church in Michigan and killed at least two people and injured several others. He set the building on fire. Since have found out 4 were killed as well as himself.
This is getting to be a scary world. So much hate and discord. I am so grateful for my faith and my Savior. I know no matter what happens, all will be well eventually. His grace will make up all the difference as we do our part and stay the course. I am so grateful for my testimony of eternal life and the gospel of Jesus Christ.
