I finally used the sourdough starter that Sydney gave me. She told me to make this chocolate bread recipe and so I did!
I made two loaves and I must say, it was good. Kinda flat but it was fluffy and not solid like the white loaf I made a while back. I liked this one but I have to figure out how to make it a little higher.
I got peaches from our neighbor. Tony and I tried one for breakfast but found out they are Cling peaches. Not as much flavor as the Elberta and harder than heck to peal and the meat
DOES NOT COME OFF THE PIT!!
I got 3 quarts out of them but I'm disappointed in the flavor. Not nearly peachy enough!! I got busy tearing my craft room apart so I could make room for all the paper and things, Donna gave me. Also I tore my file cabinets apart when I was looking for my birth certificate and my citizenship papers. My room was such a mess!
I bagged up a couple more caramel apples and brought them to the gym on Thursday morning along with a loaf of the chocolate sour dough bread and gave them to Pat. She is always bringing me things. I can't keep up with her. She gave me 2 new waxes and a box of Kiwi on Wednesday so I tried to reciprocate on Thursday. We had just got onto the track to walk and I got a call from Robin. She asked me what I was doing and I told her I had just got to the gym. It was 7:30 in the morning. She said she was soooooo sick and wanted me to come over. I said she would have to wait till I finished walking. Pat and I had a good visit and a good walk. When we finished, Tony and I went home. He was scheduled to take his mom to 2 doctor appointments. I went over to Robin's to see how she was doing. I told her I could only stay for 45 minutes cuz Tony would need the car. He called me at 10:30 and I said, "I'm on my way"...I went home and then I started to work on my craft room. HOWEVER, I got a call from Joyce. She said she needed to go to the ER. She had a bowl blockage and was in a lot of pain. I took her to St Lukes and we waited 2 hours till she was admitted to the back. I was glad I brought a book to read. After 3 hours, Tony came to exchange cars with me because he had to take Joyce's car to LES SCHWAB to get her tires rotated. He brought me some chips and a drink because I hadn't eaten all day. That was a life saver. I waited till 4 o'clock and then asked the front desk how much longer Joyce was gonna be, They said I could go back to where she was.
I did and she was in a bed. They had given her an MRI and said her blockage was up high. They were going to give her something to start her moving but still hadn't. I told her I needed to go home so I could cook a meal for a lady in our ward who just had hernia surgery. I told her to call me when she was ready to leave. I drove home and roasted 6 chicken legs and baked roasted vegetables. Joyce called about 20 to 5 so Tony went to pick her up. When he got home, we waited a bit till the dinner was done and then we took it over at 6pm. I got a gift certificate for JIMMY JOHN's from Heather for my birthday so we went and got a sandwich. We came home and ate while watching some TV. We went to bed at 9 as it had been a very stressful day. We got to sleep and at 12:30, the doorbell rang. It was Joyce. She was in her housecoat and standing under an umbrella as it was raining cats and dogs. She wanted a Priesthood blessing. She said she was vomiting and so miserable. Poor dear. Tony gave her a beautiful blessing and she went home. I checked on her twice in the morning but she didn't answer the phone. We went over to her house after our exercise at the gym and she was just getting up. She said she finally got some sleep. Then later in the day, she called and said the medicine worked and she was feeling so much better.
Saturday morning, we got up and watched General Conference. It was so incredible. So many wonderful talks. I was very impressed with Kevin G Brown. His talk on testimony was so powerful.
I LOVED IT!
I also loved Sister Browning's talk on the power of good music. It was such a wonderful day. Tony and I ate pancakes with the peach pit syrup after the 1st session. It was good. Later, the 2 Sister Missionaries came over to watch the evening session with us. It was going to be Joyce's turn to cook tomorrow but I told her I would because she was so sick and is rather weak. Until then, have a good night. I'm going to bed.
