WASHINGTON BOUND!~

The kiddies  waiting for us to get off the airplane in Bellingham!
Tony and I flew out Friday night for Washington to spend
the "Labor Day" weekend with Princess and the kids.
Chris is in Texas on a detail so we missed him!! (That's why I was so glad he stopped briefly in Nampa on his way to Texas)  Princess picked us up and then we headed to their home where she got us settled before taking off to work. Tristan was so cute. I said to him "thank you for letting us use your room"  and he promptly said " no, I'm letting you use my room"  it was just so funny the way he said it.  We went to bed and got up Saturday and ate some breakfast and headed out to explore the area!

We drove to downtown Lynden 1st.  Very cool little town. A big Dutch influence and a lot of "Windmills" ...

We went inside the one pictured above and there was a fish pond with a lot of coy fish in! Ari is pointing them out to me!
"Wooden Shoe rather be Dutch?

Chris called us while we were walking around and told us about a "Dutch Bakery" on the main street that had delicious baked goods! We definitely had to go....  And we did!  The kiddies enjoyed donuts while Tony and I had a HUGE cookie!
After exploring Lynden, we hopped in the truck and checked out the US/Canadian border! It was so interesting! There is literally 2 long roads divided by a ditch and one side is US and the other Canada. We saw "Border Patrol"  guys every so often.  They have a BIG JOB!  We drove to "Birch Bay" and checked out the resort there. The tide was out and there were a lot of people searching for shells etc. but since we were in Chris's pickup and we had no towels, we opted to not go out onto the sand and search. Just checked it out from shore! The kids were getting hungry and wanted to play at the play ground at McDonalds so Guess where we went for lunch??

YOU GOT IT IN ONE!!

They played SO HARD!!  Check out the glistening faces!!  They were literally sweating from running all over the playground!!  Tristan was funny, he proceeded to tell me that McDonalds food was "Junk" food and not good for you but they loved it!  lol
Finally at 5PM we headed home. Princess was up and ready to go to work at 6 so she visited briefly with us before taking off for her night shift again.  Tony got us a pizza for dinner and we watched movies with the kids till bedtime. We were all pretty well worn out.  Tony and I were sure feeling our age and concluded the reason we have kids when we are young is because when your our age .... we are just too tired!  lol
Sunday, we got up and took the kids to "WHATCOM FALLS" .... There was a playground, a fish hatchery and a beautiful hiking area and small falls.  It really was pretty!

Ari loves nature. She picks up leaves, sticks, bugs, you name it!!
 They sure are cute kids!!

This was a spill (looked like a cool waterslide!)
But Tony said it would be used to dump the fish from the hatchery into the
creek below!

Grandpa Tony with the kiddies checking out the area!

And back to the playground. Ari was picking up the bark and throwing it into the air and Tristan was trying to dodge the fallout!  lol

More pictures of the area we saw on our hike.

Checking things out from the Bridge!

Grandma and two of her babies!!

Princess got up earlier on Saturday so we went home
and spent some time with her before she left again on
Saturday night. She played tug of war with Beco!!

And I think Beco won! lol

Then Tristan gave it a go and again, Beco WON!~  lol
After Princess left for work, we again settled down to watch movies with the kids and have a nice relaxing evening. We were all tired and after BIG HERO 6 and The Little Prince we all went to bed.  Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

We had to fly out Monday so we watched the kids Monday morning while Princess got her eyelashes done and then she took us to lunch at a cool little place in Bellingham. CASA que PASA!  HUGE burritos!!  They were good!  Tony and I shared one because they were so big!!  Similar to Los Betos here in Nampa!

And after eating here she took us to "Mallards" .... an ice cream place!  It was so good too! It was a nice send off before she took us to the airport to catch our flight home. It was a fun weekend and we sure enjoyed spending time with the little ones and some with Princess as well. Next time we go, hopefully Chris will be there and we will do a lot more because they know all the cool places to go. We were winging it! lol
