Well, as you know, my kids gave me a "Retirement Surprise" to beat all surprises!! Last Saturday, we drove to Utah to have the weekend they planned for me!
The cozy apartment was in the basement of this house in Parleys Summit. At 1st we were not sure we were at the right place but we finally walked around the left side of the home and found the entrance to the daylight basement. |
It was a very lovely clean and well stocked apartment with a big entrance room for coats, boots, skis, luggage ....whatever you brought with you! It had 2 bedrooms, a bathroom, and a great room with kitchen and living room. |
The kitchen area had a washer/dryer and all the appliances and dishes etc needed. |
It was well decorated and had a Big screen TV with Netflix and Hulu etc. |
The bathroom had a very modern tub and a shower, 2 vanities and of course...the commode. We checked in, dropped off our luggage and changed and cleaned up and headed down the road to The DaJoria Center for dinner and the show! |
We plugged in the address to our GPS but it took us the wrong direction when we got into the little town of Kamas. When it said "You have arrived" and there was nothing in sight, we figured it out, turned around and went the opposite direction and found it. It looks like someone's ranch that has been turned into an Event Center. They told us that they would be building a hotel soon so more was to come. The State Road resturant inside the center was absolutely beautiful! |
A little bit dark cuz it was still light out and there were a ton of windows in this place!!
BUT BEAUTIFUL, NONE THE LESS!~ |
And my date for the event was totally awesome!! |
We got Thai Lettuce wraps for an appptizer and they were so stinkin good! Gonna have to hit the Oriental Market and get me some of those crunchy rice things cuz it was seriously good! |
I ordered taco's. 2 Pork and one salmon. Really really tasty!! They served our food on cake pans. Really went with the lay out of the place!! |
And Tony got his all time favorite meal....Baby Back Ribs! |
After dinner we went out doors for a bit to look around and it was raining. Needless to dsay, we didn't stay out too long! |
The Dajoria Center |
These are some of the surrounding building that they use in the summer when the weather is good! |
And then back inside at the concert hall waiting for ........... |
DAVID ARCHULETTA !!!
It was such a fantastic concert! He really put on a great show! He sang and talked for 2 hours straight. When his band would go off stage, he's get on the piano and belt out some more tunes!
It was such an uplifting concert! Did I mention, he is my little heart throb! lol |
When we left the concert, it was snowing outside!!
SEPTEMBER and it's snowing!! It was like we were traveling at light speed back to the apartment! lol |
And when we arrived, there were MORE SURPRISES!!
Heather, came up (all the way from Saratoga Springs) while we were in Kamas and delivered Sparkling Cider, Cake, A balloon and a funny card!! |
Ice Cream!! (This was funny cuz we thought she had delivered the Tillamook too and Tony said "How much ice-cream does she think I can eat?"
I called her and she said it was already there and she was thinking
"How much Ice cream can Tony eat?" lol |
She also left us yogurt and water for breakfast the following morning! |
As well as oatmeal, tangerines and hot cocoa! So so nice!!
We were amazed! Totally amazed!! |
Sunday morning after sleeping in till 8am and after eating the good breakfast Heather had prepared for us, we decided it was time to head to lower ground and dryer ground! |
So off we went and by the time we were down the road 5 miles, it had quit and was just raining. We finally got out of the rain completely by the time we hit the Idaho boarder and it was warm and sunny whe we finally got home. around 4PM.
It was seriously such a GREAT weekend and such a special gift from the kids! My heart is full of gratitude for them and I cannot tell them enough how much I love and appreciate them and the joy they bring into my life!! |
