PEAR SORTING

Tony and I got up  at 7am and got ready to go to the Orchard and sort pears. We dressed warm as it was 35 * when we ate a quick breakfast. We took off and I read JERIMIAH while Tony drove. He took a wrong turn and we got  there a few minutes late.

There were already several from our Stake working so I got a CAKE job!!  Actually, Tony did too. 

Tony got put on the end of the line where the extra BIG Pears come down the line and go into a bin. Those pears are then sold.

We thought we might get put in the pear shed to sort there. Glad we didn't. It was crowded. At 1st Brother Waite was going to have me in there when another Brother came and said he could use me on the weight end of things.

So as the bins filled, and another young man used a lift to pick up the bins and weight them, I'd fill out a pink paper with the weight , date and where it was going. C for cannery and L for the large bins that were to be sold. It was an easy job! We filled two bins with  HUGE pears and 28 with the ones that go to the cannery!

These on the ends (small) go to the food bank.

There weren't a super lot of large pears so Tony wasn't super busy!

I got in a fair amount of walking with my position, which I liked. I stayed warm! lol We worked 4 hours and finished at noon. We then bought apples at .30 cents a pound! Great deal!!  We got some Granny Smith. I want to make caramel apples for Halloween. We also got a few Cameo and quite a few Fuji's!

We came home and changed and went to the Rec Ctr. to walk.

It was still a bit cool when I 1st started but soon warmed up and took off my sweatshirt. When we finished, we came home and read several more chapters in Jerimiah. Then at 5, we went to Chick Fil A to see Hawkins and eat dinner.

In all the time he's worked there, we've never seen him in action cuz we always get there at the wrong time. lol Today, Scott was going in at the same time as us. He was on his way home from work and they were going to a talent show at church and so he stopped to get dinner for him and Jill and Scotlyn.

He sat and ate with us and then got their meals.

After leaving Chick Fil A, we went to Costco and Winco then home to shower. Now we're going to rest up!
