I dropped my siblings a text yesterday to see if any of them have heard from Mom and to ask Rick how she was doing, as I have not heard from her in a couple of weeks. NOT SUPRISEINGLY, no one has. Rick said he has noticed a definite slowing down of her daily routines and she is becoming somewhat disoriented. Confused about her surroundings. Some of it may be attributed to her failing eyesight but Rick says she is showing signs of winding down. I quote Rick: " I do wonder who all will be dropping in to escort our dear mother across the veil when her time comes. I do think the pace is picking up for that grand event." It's hard to think about but she is almost 101 and it's inevitable but it will definitely be bitter sweet. I was a bit depressed today just thinking about it.
None the less, we went to the gym. I walked my 4 miles and Tony did the same but also weights. He is amazing. Since I was sick, I am definitely feeling my age and I feel like I am a long ways from what I was a year ago. It seems like it's harder to get back to 100%.
When we got home, we ate a bowl of cereal and headed outside. Tony unloaded all the pavers from the truck and loaded them into his wagon. He hauled them all to the backyard while I planted flowers.
He was cleaning out some of the weeds behind the fence and it looks like we should have irrigation water soon. The ducks enjoy the water.
I cleaned out my pots and stirred up the soil in them, dug a nice hole and planted all my Dahlia's. I got 6 pots filled with them and then added the soil back in to cover them well. I think after last nights cold spell, we should be done with freezing temperatures. SO, eventually they will start to grow.
When Tony got the pavers yesterday, I picked up some more perennials. I got one more Hyacinth. A white one. They are pretty much out of there growing time as they are a early spring flower, but next year it will be fun to see all three come up!
Then I planted two Dianthuses! One is a light pink and the other is red. Boy, I had no idea how good they smelled! It is so fragrant when I walk past them. Tony was ready to go out to D&B when I finished so I went with him. The 1st trip, we got a load of sand!
We parked on the road behind the fence by the irrigation ditch and he loaded up his wheel barrow.
Then he would dump it in the garden and rake each one out before loading up his wheel barrow again. I tell ya, the man can work circles around me anymore!!
HE'S AMAZING!
I cut off some of my daffodils that were drooping their heavy heads. Made a little bouquet and put them on my table. So PRETTY!~
After Tony finished with the sand, we drove back out to D&B and got a load of top soil.
Same thing..... we parked in the back and he loaded his wheel barrow and spread each dump around!
I came in and made lunch (dinner) and cleaned up the kitchen and did my dishes. I worked a little on my cards but not sure yet if I want to use the cats on this card. I may come up with a different critter.
The sky was getting darker again and just as Tony was finishing, it started to rain. He got done just in the nick of time!! I took a shower while he finished up and then he came in and dumped all the trash. It's our garbage day tomorrow. It was a very successful day (Mostly thanks to my hubby) but I did what I could. It is what it is!

Your garden area looks so good! My kids are wanting to plants some foods this year in a garden but I haven't figured out where yet. All of the planting areas are filled with bushes and flowers, which I love, but just no spot for growing veggies yet. And we haven't turned on our sprinklers yet so I'm not sure where they are located but I think they are all long shooting sprinklers.
I'm sorry to hear about your mom and that you were feeling down. It's great though that she has lived such a long life. It certainly will be a great reunion in heaven when the time does come. Thank goodness for the plan of happiness!
Thanks Deedra. I appreciate it.
