We treated Mom to fish and chips again yesterday. She loves them! AND, why wouldn't she?
They are the absolute BEST!~
Mom went to bed around 8:30 last night. Tony and I got ready for bed, read our scriptures and then I went to the recliner while he settled down in the bed. I got my book out and read till 1:30am. Will was having another LORD of THE RINGS party.
2 movies last night! lol I finally put my book down around 2am after all the noise settled down.
Mom was anxious to get to the doctor so she was up at 6am! (GREAT, after I didn't get enough sleep) My fault!! When she came out to the kitchen it was about 6:45. It takes her a while to get dressed and ready BUT READY SHE WAS!! I fed her and told her we didn't go till 1:45 in the afternoon but she was ready for when it happened. Her wart is pretty disgusting!
It is raised and it hurts if she bumps it but she doesn't complain. I read my book till it was time to go. We got out her wheel chair, got her to the car and it definitely took two of us to get her loaded and unloaded at the clinic! It took us quite a while to fill out paperwork so we were glad we went early.
The nurse told me that she was going to numb the area around the wart and she said "I'm sorry, but it's gonna hurt". Mom is so tough. She didn't even wince. I couldn't believe it! I was squirming in my seat just watching! Then the doctor came in and shaved it off with a razor. She then cauterized it. Burnt skin smells gross!! Earlier, we had sent a text to Wendy to ask who her primary care doctor was. She replied when mom was getting it cauterized. She gave us the name and said Rick and fallen off the roof and they were on the way to the hospital. CRAP!! Once the doctor was done, she told us that the roots went super deep and it would require surgery to remove it completely. She suspects it is cancerous but we won't know for 2 to 3 weeks. She said the wart will continue to grow and could be big again in a short time. WOW! What a bunch of bad news this week!! From Eric, to Mom to Rick!! We got mom loaded and unloaded at home again, I fed her and decided not to tell her about Rick.
I asked her for the 3rd time, if I could give her a foot bath and trim her toes. I told her that her toe nails were getting too long and it would be easier to put her socks on if she'd let me do it. She finally relented, and I got it done. YAY!~
I rubbed her feet with lotion and put on some nice warm socks on her feet, when I finished. She kept thanking me and told me how much she appreciated how much I had done for her. I seriously haven't done much. NOTHING like the service Rick and Wendy have given to her over the years. I feel guilty leaving now that Rick is injured. William got home from work so I went up and asked if he'd heard any more news. He said Rick has a concussion, a dislocated finger (which they put back in) and compressed discs in his back. He's in a lot of pain! They were transporting him to RENO to see a specialist. Now, I really feel guilty! Not sure what is going to happen.
When Mom was ready to go to bed, I knew I would have too say our goodbye. I asked her if we could take a picture together while she was standing. She asked where Tony was and I tried to point to him but it took her a while to focus! She said, "I look like heck" lol, I assured her, I DID TOO!~ lol
This may be the last picture I get with her. I guess, only God knows. I got her to bed and she tanked me for all I had done over the past two weeks. I told her it was my pleasure, which it was so sweet to serve her. Once she was in bed, I leaned over and kissed her and said "I LOVE YOU" right in her ear. I don't know if she was able to hear me or if the spirit whispered to her. She grabbed me and hugged and kissed me and said "I LOVE YOU TOO" it was so sweet and tender and we were both crying. I wonder if she feels it may be the last time she sees me in this life as well.
