Last night I was asked by Jenni if I would help her with a Memorial service that was being held at our building today. I told her I could, so she asked if Tony and I would set up tables and chairs at 11:30. The service was at 1 o'clock.
We got up and headed to the gym. We were there by 9am and we had our walk, and weights to do. Tony walked his 4 miles and I walked two. Then I went down to the elliptical while he finished his four. we both got to the weight room about the same time. We were surprised to see how busy it was. We thought with all the snow it would be slow. NOT SO!~
The lot was plowed pretty good but there were piles all over. We finished a little after 11 so we hurried over to the church.
Jenni wasn't there yet because she had a dentist appointment. We got the place put together in 10 minutes. It was going to be a small service so we only put up 5 tables with 8 chairs to each table.
Tony put down some ice melt and we took off for home so I could shower and clean up before going back to help Jenni.
Before leaving, I found a little sprig of a real flower! I put it in the snow and we left! lol I showered quickly and did my hair and put on a face. Then Tony took me back to the church and dropped me off.
Jenni was there and so we got the tables decorated and put the desserts out. Since it was a small service, we just did desserts and bottled water.
It was simple decor. The man's favorite candy was TWIX and so we put a succulent on each table with TWIX spread around it. Easy Peasy!! Like I said, the service was to start at 1 o'clock. A granddaughter named Silvia or Serena or something like that was in charge. She became a "Basket Case" when her two Aunts, who were scheduled to speak, still hadn't showed up by 1 o'clock. Her Great Grandmother, (the wife of the deceased) wasn't there either and her Great Grandfather (who was cremated) wasn't there. She started crying and she said " My Grandfather was on time for everything and now he's late for his own funeral." We assured her everything would be alright. The chapel had about 25 people in it. Klynn was playing and playing and playing prelude music. The Bishop stood up and explained we were waiting on some people. Finally, an Uncle showed up with the Great Grandmother and the box with the deceased's ashes. We were still waiting on the two Aunts who were to speak. Finally, they showed up and they got it started! Almost 2 o'clock! It was so funny! The entire funeral lasted 15 minutes! From Opening song, Prayer, Eulogy, and Life sketch and closing prayer! It was the fasted service I have ever attended! I called Tony and asked him to come help us put away tables and chairs after everyone was finished eating and visiting and we left. We went to Costco and then to
CHICK FIL A
to grab something to eat. We hadn't had breakfast and it was 4:30. After eating, we went to Winco for milk and cream cheese
(which we forgot) ....
OH BROTHER!!
We were so tired we weren't thinking too good! Now we are home, I'm doing laundry and trying to get Mary's cards done!! I want them out of my hair so I can concentrate on redoing my pantry!! Hopefully soon! It was nice to serve other's though so I was happy about that.
