Tuesday, Tony and I got up extra early to go to the gym because I had to pick up Lynn and Joyce at 10:15 to go to the
SILVER SISTER'S LUNCHEON
at 11. So, we got up at 6:30 so I'd be sure and be able to walk with Pat and as we got there, she sent me a text saying she had been sick the previous night and was not coming. lol I just can't seem to get the times right with her. lol It was OK thought because I was able to listen to conference with my earbuds. When I got home, I cleaned up and at 10:15, picked up Joyce and then Lynn.
We got to the luncheon just before they started.
Most of the sister's in our ward were already seated but we were able to get a table right next to them and the Debbie Edge came in so there were 4 of us at our table. Dr. Whilheimson was the guest speaker. His mother asked him to speak as to some of the troubles us older ladies have such as falling, dementia, hearing loss etc. He was very interesting.
He gave some good advice as to what to do in some cases and told some pretty interesting stories of things that he'd seen in his practice. It was a fun activity and worth listening to.
Lunch was served after he spoke to us. They served Chicken salad sandwiches, pasta salads, chips and brownies. It was all good. When I got home, Tony said that LLynn and Joyce's mowers were ready to be picked up. I went with him to help load them. Once we got home, I went to Joyce's and mowed her yard. Then Tony got to working on her sprinklers and he had to replace several heads.
When I finished her yard I made some sourdough banana bread. It was darn good. I cut the smaller loaf in half and gave half to Joyce. Then I headed over to Lynn's to mow her lawn and I gave her the other half of the smaller one.
On Wednesday, after the gym, I made lunch for Yeti. The Sister Missionaries had transfers so they weren't able to come but Yeti did and we had a good visit with him. We had Sloppy Joes and I'd made a Potato Salad as well. We had a Root Beer float for dessert. Yeti said he'd come over Friday and Saturday to help Tony with the fence.
After Yeti left, I planted all my flower bulbs. I filled eight flower pots with Begonias and Dahlias'. I also put a little creeping phlox in a few pots so we'll see how that goes.
Tony and our neighbor Patrick got to working on the fence.
There were two big hunks of cement that they had to get out of two holes. Tony asked me if I could help him put one in the garbage. He had it in a wagon and both of us tried to lift it and I couldn't budge it. Tony had to do it himself and once he got it picked up, I was able to help lift it into the trash. DANG, it was HEAVY!!
These are the holes the cement came out of. Once they got them cleaned out they got the new cement poured .
Tony and I went to HOME DEPOT and picked up 140 fence slats and 14 big posts. BOY, was that a job!! We went through a big stack of boards, picking out the best ones and after we got them onto a cart and paid for, we had to load them into the truck. When we got home, we only unloaded the big posts and left the fences boards in the truck. we were both tired and poor Tony is so sore because of course, he does all the heavy lifting.
THURSDAY morning after a good nights rest, we picked up the ladies and went to the temple. Today we just did an endowment each and then we went to sealings for an hour. We only got 22 sealings done today but we only stayed an hour and there was another couple in with us. We then went to Initiatory and we each did 5. Not a bad day. We stopped at Arby's for lunch on the way home.
Tony and Patrick are back at it. Tomorrow, Patrick will be gone but Yeti is going to help Tony, so hopefully we'll get it done. I came up to my craft room and worked on cutting out labels and stamping sentiments on them.
Then I have plastic sheets with pockets in them and I fill them up. It's a good way to use up scraps of paper and then if I make a card, I can quickly pick out a sentiment. I'm going to wash a load of whites and then I'll read for a bit. Should have my book done in an hour and then can start on #3 in the series of 6.
Well, I changed my plans! lol I started my load of whites, got my sourdough starter mixed again and then went out to take a picture of their progress.
Tony asked me to water the three spots where the cement was poured so the dirt would settle good. So after doing that, I decided to plant the beans in the garden. Hope it's not too early but it's almost May and the peas are up and doing great. The beets and carrots are up so I went ahead and put in the beans and a few more beets.
NOW, I'm gonna read!! lol I finished my book before hitting the sack and started on #3 of the series FIRE & STEEL. SO GOOD!!
We went to the gym early and I was able to walk the ENTIRE 4 miles with Pat!! Finally!! we stopped at Lynn's on the way home and Tony got her sprinkler's going. Came home and Tony returned some things to Home Depot then came back and Yeti showed up to help him!! YAY!!
I made chocolate chip cookies while they worked and read my book. I also ground up all my egg shells for the garden. Glad to get that done. My egg shell bucket was overflowing!
I prepared lunch as the guys were putting up the last board.
It was a pretty good stretch of fence but it looks nice. MUCH nicer than the old fence!! The guys came in to eat. It was just left overs from Wednesday except for the chocolate chip cookies. Sloppy Joes & potato salad. They didn't mind and Yeti must have eaten a dozen cookies. lol I love it when people enjoy my cooking. lol After we ate, I cleaned up the kitchen and the guys went out to cut up all the old fence pieces and to put them in the trash. It may take a couple of weeks to get rid of it all but it will be gone soon enough!
My three colors of QUINTZ bushes. Red is my absolute favorite but it is still small. I have a fourth but it hasn't bloomed yet. I think it's a coral color. I checked all my pots I'd potted yesterday and ALREADY, a squirrel has dug one up! Grrrrrrr! Those little critters make me so angry! Well, time to shower and settle down.
