I love this time of year! I love the lights, I love the softening of hearts, I love to give. Something I should do all year long!!
I think of my Savior and ALL He has given to me and to all of us! He gave His life that we might live. I am so grateful for this knowledge. I know he was resurrected and lives again and I am so looking forward to His 2nd coming. I just hope I can live worthy of His presence. I'm trying but feel like I fail miserably at times.
When I walk at the rec center with Pat, I am able to associate with a lot of different people and have made many friends. A little girl that walks daily is Marissa. She is a young woman with Down Syndrome. She is always happy and friendly. She sometimes wears a Mickey Mouse headband with ears. She has several shirts with Mickey on them and she lets us know how she loves Disney.
I had made several Mickey/Minnie ornaments a couple of years ago. I thought about her when I put up my tree this year and wrapped one up and took it to her yesterday. She was excited to get it and thanked me and said they were going to put up their tree soon. It made my heart full to see her gratitude. Last night, I went to a Relief Society Presidency meeting. It was our President's birthday. Shelly got her a small cake and a bouquet of flowers. I got her a bobbin holder and some scrubbies and made her a card. She was surprised that we remembered her birthday and appreciated the small tokens of celebration. This morning, we got up at 3:15, dressed and then went to pick up the Jarrett's and drove them to the airport so they could fly to California. I will take care of their cat while they are gone. They expressed how grateful they were to us. It's so wonderful to be able to give and to help. It's what Jesus did and taught us to do. It doesn't have to be something big. It can be something as small as a drive, a service or a homemade ornament.
