Well, today was the day for the 1st Rituxan infusion. I woke up at 3:30 AM. Could NOT go back to sleep. I tried but it just wasn't happening. Wished I could say it was because I was so anxious for the infusion but it was the darn prednisone. SO, I got up, emptied the dishwasher and put the dishes away. Then I made a little snack of some celery stix with peanut butter in them to take to the hospital. I also packed a string cheese and some Ritz crackers, some wet wipes and my book. Ready to go up and get dressed but it's only 4:15! lol I sat down and did some puzzles in my word puzzle book and then read some in THE GREEN RIDER!~ At 7am, I went up to dress, put on a face and do my hair. Tony had just got up and was getting ready to go to the gym.
I had had a piece of toast at 4am so I could take my pills. Tony ate some breakfast and made me eat an almond cookie so I could take my daily vitamins. Then we took off at 8am. There was a beautiful sunrise coming up towards Boise area!
We checked in at the North Entrance. Had never been in that area. Tony walked me back to where I was to go in and then he left. No sense in him sticking around. Only ONE of us needs to be bored!
The nurses were SO NICE!! One in particular got me started and she was good! Didn't feel a thing when she put the needle in! LOVE THAT~
After giving me some oral medications, (Pepcid, Tylenol and Benadryl) They started the Rituxan in the drip. Because it was my 1st time, they start it at 18 (which I don't know what that means) and every 1/2 hour a beeper goes off and they come in and bump it up. I think the highest when I finished was somewhere around 175. I was comfortable and the only thing I noticed was the saline solution at the beginning and at the end. I did start getting a slight headache and a bit jittery but other than that, it was fine. I was finally finished at 2PM. They unhooked me, I used the bathroom for the 4th time and off I went. Tony was ready and waiting for me in the waiting room. He had gone to the gym, did a few things at home and picked up his mom and they both went and paid the taxes on our homes. Then they came straight to the hospital to get me. We went to
CHICK FIL A
for lunch. Tony went in and got us each a salad and we came home to eat. They had to run over to Joyce's to talk to her about Lona's situation1st, so put the salads in the fridge. Lona was supposed to be flying in tonight super late and then riding up with Tony and the rest to Lewiston for Joel's funeral. Evidently, the flight was canceled due to bad weather. They were trying to make other arrangements. She got another one booked but still not sure if it will be clear enough for her to come. She should know tonight sometime. IF she does make the flight, they will be getting away a lot later tomorrow as they will have to pick her up at the airport at almost 2 in the afternoon and go straight to Lewiston from there.
They came back over and we ate our lunch and then Lynn and I came into the living room to warm up under some blankets and rest. I wanted to sleep in the hospital but there were so many people getting infusions of one sort or another and the beepers going off on everyone's ( at different times) sounded like I was at a concert! lol No sleeping there. So I'm ready for a nap. I do feel pretty good. The nurse told me that with the infusions your immunity gets low (and mine is already low) so to stay away from big crowds and only have a small healthy number of people in my home. I was aware.
Tony had a Priesthood meeting at 4:30 so he took Lynn home on his way to the church. Time to rest!
I'll repeat this little activity in 2 weeks!
